A March of Stupidity

Women's March On Washington

What a tumultuous new year it has been.  The election of Donald J. Trump to the presidency of the United States of America has been met with anything but peace and conciliation.  Since Trump’s victory back in November, massive rallies, calls for impeachment, violence and just about everything else you can imagine immediately ensued.  In the first two weeks since the inauguration of the 45th president of the United States, we have been confronted with a storm of executive orders on a range of politically divisive issues: free trade, economic regulations, national security, immigration and a host of other important items.  Interestingly enough though, the left-wing community, after remaining silent for years as Obama abused his executive powers, suddenly discovered their inner libertarian on civil liberties. Out of nowhere executive orders became tyrannical; quoting the constitution was trendy again; those Founding Fathers who were mere background noise as our 2nd and 10th amendment rights were being trampled on for years suddenly became cultural superstars on January 20, 2017 .  There were even ramblings about a possible secession from the union.

Of course, this has all just been manufactured outrage toward a presidency effectively handicapped from doing anything legally outrageous just yet.  The rabble-rousers are not furious at what Trump has done, but at what they think he thinks he plans on doing in the future.  Even the list of nations targeted by the so-called “Muslim ban” were already pre-selected by the Obama administration and therefore does not reveal anything as constitutionally upsetting as progressives would have you believe.  In fact, the Obama administration dropped 26,000 bombs on seven Muslim nations just last year.  In many ways, Trump is following the footsteps of his predecessor, albeit being more direct and upfront about it.

So what’s all the fuss about? Well, the so-called Women’s March on Washington gave us a nice microscopic analysis of what the collective outrage is all about.  And by that, I mean absolutely nothing.  This has been one tiring characteristic of the infuriated left: battling those mythical dragons that continue to haunt them.  One may even call it circular outrage: protesting for the sake of protesting for the sake of protesting.  Because, when you press them about it, these “antifascists” fail to articulate what particularly inflames them about Trump’s “war on women”.  Roe v. Wade still stands unscathed.  Affirmative action for women still, by and large, remains in-tact.  The teaching modules that have flooded the academies since reactionary feminism took off still propagate the fatuous theory of gender creationism: that gender, much like the categories and structures done away with by 19th century continental philosophy, is nothing more than an illusion.  So what exactly are these crusaders wailing about?

As if all of this is not unintelligible enough, we then encounter some moral difficulties with the chosen narrators of the progressive cause. For starters, meet one Linda Sarsour: a young, American, Muslim “feminist” and “civil rights” activist, and darling of the cultural left.  In other words, a guilty white liberal’s wet dream.  The relevance of Mrs. Sarsour will become evident in a moment.

Sarsour was honored the “champion of change” by the Obama administration- it doesn’t get sweeter than that.  She is also executive director of the Arab American Association of New York.  And if you’re not drooling yet, just get a load of this: Sarsour even believes in standing up for minorities because thats what her faith teaches her to do– well, unless those minorities are moaning, whining victims of acid attacks and female genital mutilation.  In that case, she just might be annoyed with your Islamophobically ulterior motives.  In fact, Sarsour voiced her opposition to the release of a feminist documentary titled Honor Diaries, a project initiated to expose and disseminate the horrific ordeal many Muslim women have had to endure at the hands of real, entitled male psychopaths- a demographic you think would upset our resident “Muslim feminist”.  After all, here was a golden opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims to collaborate on supporting actual refugees of misogyny and violence, while clearing the air about the “true Islam” of “equality” and “women rights”.  Sounds sensible enough. Well, Linda Sarsour, along with her scheming cohorts at the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR), had a different perspective: mutilating and torturing women is bad,  but mentioning it is even worse.  Forget that, FOX News just hates Muslims.

Mrs. “champion of change” even once went so far as to callously humor that Ayan Hirsi Ali, a producer of the film, ought to have her “vagina removed”- a woman who, ironically enough, actually experienced having bits and pieces of her genitals scraped off as a young girl in Africa.  Right on! If you ask me, this pro-Sharia  civil rights activist is just too misunderstood.

Anyhow, following these intimidations, some universities were pressured into shutting down Honor Diaries.  Apparently, the true, tolerant Islam works in painfully mysterious ways. In an age where even joking about “pussy grabbing” can get you into the deep, surely insulting victims of FGM ought to upset the sensitivity-mongers.

So naturally, feminists swiftly responded to these cruel offenses against female honor victims, as any noble, concerned member of the international sisterhood would: by inviting Sarsour to organize the Women’s March.  How about that?  You see, the organizers were quick to bar those other backward, uneducated, pro-life hordes from infecting their righteous march.  Well who could blame them. These Gloria Steinem action figures just won’t put up with your false gender pronouns and male theories of human nature, or any other such devices that threaten the very essence of their womanhood.  So when they talk woman power, they mean business.  But religious theocrats silencing survivors of the most violent and monstrous variety of misogyny known to the 21st century? Well, we could always add an extra color to that rainbow of diversity!

Thought experiment: imagine if a secular organization collaborated with someone who tried censoring a film about pedophilia in the Catholic Church.  Or even worse: if that same theocrat jokingly remarked that one of the damaged victims should have his “private parts handled” or “cared for” by the priests.  How do you think such a vulgar statement would go down with feminists and secularists? I mean, a Nobel laureate was ruined because a joke he told about office romances didn’t sit well with feminists; but a boastful theocrat, who mocked and vilified victims of FGM successfully landed herself an organizational gig at a Women’s March.  This is the pervasive masochism cancerously swallowing the organ of western feminism.  One must notice its moral stench when these gender activists willingly submit to the very forces of tyranny and oppression, which they have sworn to oppose in the first place.

By embracing the insidious Islamists, the Women’s March officially vetoed itself right out of any future discussion about women’s liberation. Preaching gender equality is more than just a bloody hashtag.  It actually requires committing to a set of internally consistent moral principles, regardless of race or religion.  Abandoning the victims and survivors of a culture that wants to reduce them to slavery and servitude is perhaps not the best way of upholding those principles .  With a few noted exceptions, Trump’s policies do not keep me up at night.  Instead, I am more concerned with the enemies within our midst, the wolf in sheep’s clothing.  The cowards who pit themselves against the oppressed, while advertising for their welfare at the same time, are worthy of humor at best and deserving of our contempt at worst. The useful idiots of the Women’s March should issue an apology to the disgraced sisters of Honor Diaries, and all female victims who’ve ever suffered at the mercy of entitled religious psychopaths.
